2006-11-03 11:18:49

With the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation starting Saturday in Beijing, traveling to Africa has become a growing trend among people in the capital city, Peoples Daily Online reports.

According to the director of the marketing department at Beijing CAISSA International Travel Service, the number of consultations for African tourism at their offices has increased significantly recently. They have also sent several tourist groups to Africa since the beginning of October.

The African continent appeals to Chinese tourists, with its exotic and picturesque landscapes, rich and mystic cultures and abundant wildlife species. October to February is the golden season for traveling in Africa.

Domestic travel agencies offer a series of African travel packages for Chinese tourists, ranging from regular whirlwind sightseeing trips to luxurious tours focussing on limited destinations. The packages feature several themes, including a cultural pilgrimage in Egypt, an island vacation in Mauritius as well as a gold-digging experience and jungle exploration in South Africa.
