Taiwan Strives to Regain Tourists

Taiwan has been a popular destination for Hong Kong tourists. However, set back by the recent round-the-clock protests against Taiwan leader Chen Shui-bian in Taipei, Taiwan Tourism authorities have launched a series of promotional tourism events in an attempt to attract visitors from Hong Kong and other regions.

A special group tour called the "One Hundred Peoples Tour to Witness Taiwan" is being offered to Hong Kong residents at a very reasonable price of only 1000 thousand HKD. The four-day tour will cover most of Taiwans hot scenic sites, as participants also receive a free one-day pass for Taipeis Mass Rapid Transit System to facilitate their sightseeing in the city.

As for tourism events, the ongoing "Taipei International Beef Noodles Festival" will last to November 5, introducing tourists to remarkable Taiwan food. The "Taipei Hot Spring Season" from October to December welcomes tourists to enjoy a relaxing spa in Taiwan, and the four-day-long "2006 Taipei International Tourism Expo" will begin on November 3. Finally, up to the end of this year, tourists can visit Alishan Mountain Scenic Area in Taiwan to feast on the unique cultures of the local ethnic minority groups.
