Over a Million People Visit Dunhuang in Nine Months

The grottoes and desert landscape of Dunhuang in northwestern Chinas Gansu province have proven to be very attractive to tourists. Statistics show than more than one million people visited this exotic scenic area in the first nine months this year.
The growth of visitors is attributed mainly to improvements in passenger transportation capacity, making Dunhuang more accessible to the outside world. It is estimated that by the end of this year, the number of visitors to Dunhuang will reach 1.2 million, an increase by 33% compared to last year.
Meanwhile, the third Cultural Tourism Festival is currently ongoing in Dunhuang.
