Passengers who leave their seats at inappropriate times during a flight without seeking permission from the cabin crew may face fines of up to 10,000 yuan (1,250 U.S. dollars), reported Thursdays Beijing Evening News.

The standard flight management regulations on civil aviation, currently under final deliberation by the government, calls for fining air passengers who open luggage racks while the plane is flying, landing, or experiencing an air turbulence.

Those who change their seats without a nod from the air crew can also be fined.

Smoking, overweight or oversized carry on luggage thats not properly stowed and disobeying orders of the crew will also garner fines.

The fines range from 500 to 10,000 yuan (62.5 to 1,250 dollars).
