A charter flight with 109 tourists aboard arrived Tuesday afternoon in Tibet from Singapore, becoming the first nonstop overseas charter flight for tourists to the region.
The nonstop flight turns the regional capital Lhasa into a direct destination for overseas tourists who used to have to stop at Chengdu or Beijing before flying into to Tibet.
The flight is expected to spur a new trend for overseas tourists who want to visit Tibet.
Tibet has seen an increasing number of overseas tourists in the past decade. In 2005, the region received 120 thousand overseas tourists, more than a quarter increase from 2004.
