
The volume will be 1.43 percent up than the holiday period last year. The peak of the transportation volume is expected to occur on October 1 with 7.5 million passengers.
As millions of travelers are to visit the commercial center in East China while flocks of local residents move around the city, the city has decided to put into operation of 14,300 buses alone with a total running course of 2.85 million kilometers during the rush week, said the bureau.
An official with the bureau said as the Chinese traditional mid-autumn festival also falls in the weeklong vacation, so the traveler flow in the city will keep high during the seven days.
Over the past three days, a record of 2.14 million people have arrived in Shanghai by train.
