
"The Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok advises all Indonesian citizens in Thailand to remain calm and stay vigilant, as well as to avoid non-essential trips to all areas in Thailand," the embassy said in its website.
Any Indonesians who plan to visit Thailand "are advised to cancel the plan until the situation back to normal," it said.
A senior official with the Foreign Affairs Ministry said the coup was the internal affairs of Thailand but the Indonesian government hopes that the fellow ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) member could resolve the crisis peacefully and immediately.
"We hope the crisis can be resolved internally. We are closely monitoring the developments (in Thailand ). We do hope the crisis would not degrade into bloodshed," said the ministrys secretary general Imran Catan.
