Hundred-Year Hotel Aims to Become Museum

A hundred-year old hotel in Yangzhou in eastern Chinas Jiangsu province is preparing to upgrade itself into a hotel museum.

Luyang Hotel, first opened in the late Qing Dynasty, stills operates in its old building. The hotel has contacted Yangzhous Cultural Relic Protection organ to turn it into a museum before March 2007 to show the changes in Chinas hotel industry in the past century.

Xia Jihong, the current hotel manager, said the hotel would undergo renovations before it becomes a museum. Every piece of the old hotel will be kept and exhibited in the future museum.
